About this Event

In January 1920 Tomás MacCurtain was elected Lord Mayor of Cork and three months later he was assassinated. His successor, Terence MacSwiney, died on hunger strike in October. The Kilmichael Ambush in November followed soon after on the fateful date of December 11th – the day of the Dillon’s Cross ambush, the killing of the Delaney brothers and the Burning of Cork City.
