About this Event

Bernadette Morris is a performer whose craft is strongly rooted in tradition but has brought her own take to the Great Irish Songbook.

‘An ear for great songs and a fine voice to bring them to new generations’ - Colum Sands BBC

‘Bernadette’s sweet pure voice rings clear above the rich and diverse arrangements, on a well-chosen selection of songs both traditional and contemporary ‘ Paul Brady

Tyrone singer Bernadette Morris made a striking debut with 2013's All The Ways That You Wander, a mainly traditional collection, in both English and Irish, which won praise from no less an authority than Tommy Sands and Paul Brady, as well as extensive radio and television airplay. She followed this in 2018 with an EP ‘Where the Heart Is’, a collection of five songs, co-written with various talent from across the North of Ireland, Scotland and the US. Recorded in the beautiful Amberville studios by Arborist’s Ben McAuley, who recently recorded Van Morrison, it features a collection of heartfelt songs, drawing on her own life experience. She is currently working on a 3rd collection of songs including cowrites with Eleanor McEvoy, Ríoghnach Connolly and Arborist’s Mark McCambridge. An engaging and soulful performer who sings from the heart.

Traditional and folk Singer/ songwriter Gráinne Holland has released 3 critically acclaimed albums to date: ‘Teanga na nGael’ in 2011, ‘Gaelré’ in 2015 which was published under the Gael Linn label and CORCRA in 2019. CORCRA was Gráinne’s first album of her own original songs and won the Nós album of the year award 2019. Gráinne has toured and performed at many major festivals both at home and abroad. She is also a producer and presenter in Irish language media.

Ríoghnach Connolly Connolly is a free spirit and strikingly selfassured…” according to Mike Butler of CityLife; “seldom has conspicuous greatness been more accessible.” Armagh born singer and flautist strongly rooted in her trad Sean-nós background, Ríoghnach Connolly also stirs elements of Appalachia, Blues and Jazz into the folk archive cooking pot.

Is amhránaí Bernadette Morris a bhfuil a ceird fréamhaithe go domhain i dtraidisiún ach tá a leagan amach féin den Great Irish Songbook aici.

Is amhránaí ó Thír Eoghain Bernadette Morris a cheol ‘All The Ways That You Wander’ ó 2013, bailiúchán atá traidisiúnta den chuid is mó, i mBéarla agus i nGaeilge, go suntasach ar an ardán den chéad uair. Fuair sé seo ardmholadh ó Tommy Sands agus Paul Brady. Bhí sé le cloisteáil ar an raidió agus an teilifís go forleathan chomh maith. Bhí an EP ‘Where the Heart Is’, aici ina dhiaidh seo in 2018. Bailiúchán de chúig amhrán comhscríofa ag tallainn éagsúla ó fud fad Thuaisceart na hÉireann, na hAlban agus na SA is ea é. Bhí sé taifeadta i stiúideonna áille Amberville ag Ben McAuley ó Aborist a thaifead Van Morrison ar na mallaibh. Tá bailiúchán d’amhráin ón chroí ann, a thagann ó eispéiris a saoil féin. Tá sí ag obair ar an tríú bailiúchán amhrán s’aicisean faoi láthair. Amhráin comhscríofa le Eleanor McEvoy, Ríoghnach Connolly agus Mark McCambridge ó Arborist ina measc. Is amhránaí breá, corraitheach í a chanann óna croí féin.

D’eisigh an t-amhránaí/scríbhneoir amhrán ceoil thraidisiúnta agus cheol na ndaoine Gráinne Holland 3 albam go dtí seo a fuair moladh mór ó na léirmheastóirí: ‘Teanga na nGael’ in 2011, ‘Gaelré’ in 2015 a foilsíodh faoi lipéad Gael Linn agus CORCRA in 2019. Ba é CORCRA an chéad albam ó Ghráinne ina raibh a cuid bunamhrán féin agus bhain sé duais Nós d’albam na bliana. Tá camchuairteanna déanta aici de agus chan sí ag cuid mhór féile móra anseo in Éirinn agus thar sáile. Is léiritheoir agus láithreoir sna meáin Ghaeilge í.
