What are the connections between capitalism and the Covid-19 pandemic? Echoing the old saying about the Great Famine, did ‘global capitalism cause the virus but national capitalisms the pandemic’? Alternatively, are there lessons in how states and citizens have responded to the pandemic to give us hope in tackling the larger planetary crisis? And finally, how can we ensure that we ‘build back better’ and ensure a just and green recovery?

Cad iad na naisc idir caipitleachas agus paindéim Covid-19? Ag lua na seancheiste faoin Ghorta Mhór arís, ‘ar chúis leis an víreas caipitleachas an domhain ach ar chúis leis an phaindéim na caipitleachais náisiúnta’? Mar mhalairt air sin, an bhfuil ceachtanna ann faoin dóigh ar fhreagair stáit agus saoránaigh don phaindéim a thabharfaidh dóchas dúinn faoin bhealach le tabhairt faoin ghéarchéim dhomhanda níos mó? Ar deireadh, cad é mar is féidir linn cinntiú go ndéanfaidh muid ‘forbairt níos fearr’ agus go mbeidh geilleagar níos córa agus níos glaise ann chomh maith?
